2009 Acura MDX: The Driver's SUV
Tuned on Germany's famed Nürburgring track, the MDX features a class-leading 300-hp, 3.7-liter VTEC V-6 engine, curve-conquering Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, and the available Acura Navigation System with AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic.


Acura's largest engine is so powerful, it rivals many V-8s. This 3.7-liter VTEC® V-6 dishes up 300 horsepower and 275 lbs.-ft. of torque, while operating with a smoother, more responsive feel, thanks to significant weight reduction measures. 

   - Magnesium cylinder head covers that use hardened aluminum cylinder sleeves help improve vehicle   balance and the power-to-weight ratio. 
  - A forged crankshaft results in lower weight and increased strength. 
  - A high-flow exhaust system increases the engine's power efficiency.


Both front bucket seats in the MDX have pronounced side bolsters to provide lateral support for aggressive cornering and plenty of comfort for long drives. 

    - Advanced seat frames and power adjustment features help reduce flex in seat movement, imparting a stable and substantial feel. 
    - The driver enjoys a 10-way adjustable power seat, including a power lumbar support. 
    - The front passenger is given similar consideration with an 8-way power adjustable seat. 
    - Both front seats offer two levels of heating. 
    - For supreme convenience, the two-driver automatic memory system is designed to record preferences for the driver's seat, steering wheel and side mirror positions as well as climate control and audio presets.

The MDX has arranged its many controls and displays into an elegant instrument panel that features an artful combination of wood-grain, metallic and high-grade composite surfaces. 

   - The center control panel has a well-organized, intuitive grouping of controls for the audio, climate and available Acura Navigation System9. 
   - The display screen sits on top of the dash to minimize eye diversion from the road. 
   - Steering wheel controls allow convenient operation of the audio system, cruise control and the Multi-Information Display. 
   - Models with the Technology or Sport Packages are equipped with a Voice Recognition system, which enables most of the center panel controls to be engaged through voice commands.

The MDX disc brakes are backed up by several sophisticated electronic systems to provide you with the best possible braking under any circumstance.

   - The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) helps you retain steering control in emergency braking by preventing the wheels from locking up, while allowing them to achieve their maximum level of stopping. 
   - The Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) system uses the ABS system to direct braking power among the four wheels, depending on their load, to help optimize braking effectiveness. 
   - The Brake Assist system detects emergency braking from the driver by monitoring the speed at which the brake pedal is depressed and stepping in to ensure the ABS system is activated-terminating immediately upon release of the brake pedal.

Rather than using a static table of time and mileage to keep track of maintenance, the MDX Maintenance Minder system calculates service needs based on how the vehicle is driven-not just how many miles. 

   - It checks engine operating conditions, such as weather extremes, stop-and-start traffic and frequent short trips. 
   - It helps coordinate oil service dates and other maintenance check-ups to minimize your trips to the service department.
